THAT’S A WRAP!
Thank you to our educators, students, and community partners who participated in this year’s DocLands Education program!
We were thrilled to welcome over 300 students to in-person screenings and engage more than 350 additional students through our online offerings. Through both formats, we reached schools across the Bay Area, deepening access to powerful, documentary storytelling.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this season was the opportunity for students to engage directly with filmmakers in post-screening conversations. These discussions sparked critical thinking, empathy, and meaningful dialogue around timely issues that affect us all.
CAFILM Education remains committed to providing dynamic, inclusive spaces where students can explore real-world issues through the lens of nonfiction film. We’re grateful to the teachers who bring these stories into their classrooms and the students who show up with curiosity and insight.
Thank you for joining us, and be sure to mark your calendars for the Spring 2026 Doclands Film Festival 10th anniversary!
DOCLANDS 2025 TESTIMONIALS
“I learned about how crucial bats are to the ecosystem. They eat bugs, and this protects crops for some farmers. In my science class, we have been learning about ecosystems and how everything really does play a crucial part in maintaining balance. I didn’t really know bats played such a crucial part, and it was really interesting to learn about!” – INVISIBLE MAMMAL (in-person)
“The film told the story in such an accessible way and was interesting for kids in terms of the athletics and the reaching of goals but more importantly, it tied to the curriculum. Particularly in terms of the history of Indian Boarding Schools. Powerful reminder of what happened to a generation of Indigenous people in the U.S.” – REMAINING NATIVE (online)
