The Environmental Youth Forum (EYF) is a free two-day program for students and educators featuring environmentally focused films, filmmaker Q&As, and an interactive Active Cinema Room. Through powerful storytelling and hands-on learning, students explore environmental issues, meet local organizations, and discover ways to take action.
EVENTS INCLUDE:
• Film screenings
• In-person Q&As with members of the filmmaking teams
• Active Cinema Room: interactive exhibits and demonstrations from local environmental organizations
• Black Box Experience: An immersive installation inspired by Natalie Zimmerman’s OCEANIA: Journey to the Center

ACTIVE CINEMA ROOM:
The Active Cinema Room connects students directly with local environmental organizations’ volunteer work, internships, and environmental programs.
Following screenings at the Smith Rafael Film Center, students can explore exhibits, meet environmental leaders, and learn about volunteer opportunities, internships, and community programs.

TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT: Thanks to generous support from an East Bay–based funder committed to expanding access for local students, a limited number of buses will be available for Oakland schools on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate transportation needs during registration.
