For over 45 years, Spike Lee has been carving out an indelible place in cinema with a tireless and endlessly curious work aesthetic that includes documentaries, narratives, episodics, music videos, short films, and more. His work transcends genres and tidy categories, it is bold and funny and challenging and unclassifiable.
CAFILM Education is giving local students the opportunity to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event for free. Enter our video contest to be part of this unforgettable event with a true master of cinema.
HOW TO ENTER
Create a short video (1 minute max):
- Sharing your favorite Spike Lee film in spoken word style
- Recreating a favorite scene from Lee’s filmography
- Highlighting his creative style (double dolly, Dutch angle, or your own example)
- Or creating something entirely original
GUIDELINES
- Open to 11th & 12th-grade students only
- San Francisco Bay Area residents only
- BIPOC Marin residents are highly encouraged to apply
- A valid school ID is required
- You must complete the Google Form and send your school ID and video submission to education@cafilm.org. No downloadable files will be accepted. Only links.
